Stuffed Pumpkin

Now this is only my version of the stuffed pumpkin. There are many ways to do this so if you want to add more feel free to look it up!

Pumpkin being steamed in water for 30 mins.
Pumpkin top set aside for later use when you put pumpkin in the oven.

Chopped peppers.

 what I used...
 End product.

Ingredients
  • 1 3-4 pound pumpkin
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • cooking oil (vegetable oil)
  • 1/3 cup chopped red pepper
  • 1/2 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1 clove of minced garlic (I used pre-cut)
  • 1 teaspoon of thyme
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 beaten eggs

Instructions

  1. Take pumpkin and cut it clean. Keep the stem but put it aside.
  2. Steam the pumpkin hole first by putting it in 3-4 inches of water on medium heat. Make sure you do it before the water is hot or it'll splash and burn you!!! Steam for 30 minutes.
  3. Chop up onions and peppers.
  4. Prepare you slop by putting eggs, garlic, thyme, and tomato sauce together in a medium bowl.
  5. Brown the meat, while browning add onions, then a few moments later add peppers.
  6. After meat is browned and onions and peppers are a little cooked put meat, onions, and peppers into slop mix and stir together.
  7. Coat outside of pumpkin carefully with vegetable oil. I used a napkin so it wouldst drip. It was still slick to put into the oven so be careful!!!
  8. Put meat slop into pumpkin hole, place pumpkin lid back on.
  9. Put in a pre-heated oven at 350 degrees for one hour.
We spooned out the contents to eat it. But I believe you are supposed to cut it like a cake and serve it.

Disney pumpkins 2

I spent the day at Disney! Here are the pumpkins I found!

There were many of these large pumpkins laying around!

I found this at Animal Kingdom after the firsts bridge near the stores. It was in the coffee express dining cart. It was the only place I saw them! It came with chocolate mousse! My epic find of the day! I tried to look for another in the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT and came up empty!! Its a special one week item they had available for Halloween!

This is at Sleep Hallow. They were selling pumpkin spice waffles!

Carving time

Pumpkins coming home from the store. I didn't want to put them in the trunk for fear that they would roll around on the way home and break the stems. I seat-belted them in to make my boyfriend laugh.

 His

Mine

See how they look like two different breeds even though they came from the same farm? Mine reminds me of a Howden Biggie while my bfs looks like a Connecticut field.

I cut my pumpkin from the bottom but I had a hard time getting the candle in like that. So I had to cut the top so I could get the candle lit.

When carving into my pumpkin I found a sprout

While making my stuffed pumpkin I found three seeds that had sprouted. This was because the pumpkin got to warm while in transit. So I planted one using some of the pumpkin guts as fertilizer. Lets see how these ones grow. It looked to me to be a Big Rock, but since it was only labeled large pumpkin, I cant properly identify it.

When I have the money and chance I will purchase seeds of every pumpkin and look for identify features. Then also identifying features of the pumpkin as they grow.

pumpkin pie!

my first try at pumpkin pie!

Pumpkin weekend

So since my boyfriend and I will not be here for halloween we are celebrating halloween this weekend.
Today we are going to bake pumpkin pie, carve jack-o-lanterns and make a stuffed pumpkin while watching a scary movie.
Tomorrow we are going to go out for pumpkin coffee and muffins.

I will post the recipe separately.

Favorite color

So I found a pumpkin that was my favorite color orange at Target!!
Now this pumpkin has a coating on it that looks like sugar, letting it have a softer look.
I believe that you can achieve this look but first painting your pumpkin your color of choice. Then using Mod Podge I would use a type of glitter that is more gritty and round and rub it over the pumpkin.

Experiment fail

So bad news my pumpkins died. They were fine one morning then I went out to check and they were shriveled yellow and the stem looked like it had been snapped. So I think the wind must have gotten to them.
I believe the sand and heat got to them.
I want to try again, but this time I want to buy soil and see what happens. Hopefully this cold weather continues and it'll be a nice 70 degrees will help them grow.
